Birthday - Getting Old or 40 & Fabulous
I say I'm getting old, my friends say I'm 40 and Fabulous. Edwin and my two great friends Christy & Pauline threw a 40th birthday party for me on Friday (my actual bday). It was so much fun, we had a terrific time. It's the first b-day party I've ever had in my life! Terrible to wait that long to have a party, too old to do much! The party was at a local restaurant but I wanted it to be for families so I rented a spacewalk for the kids to play on....best money I've ever spent. The kids played and the adults got to visit and enjoy some time together. I just may want to start having a party every year ;-)

The Cloak
We did it! The cloak is very simple but it works. Amazing what a little fabric and fabric glue can accomplish. Christine sewed the button on by herself and I cut the hole for the button. Now onto her Science Fair Project....science is NOT my thing! I'm glad she likes it, she can do it by herself (hopefully).

Sometimes I'm happy she doesn't listen to me
Christine was given a book report and project to have completed for this week. She read the book and wrote the report during break last week. Then she could choose from a couple of options for the project part: a diorama, a powerpoint presentation, or a bottle buddy. She of course wanted to do the bottle buddy. I didn't even know what that was and tried to persuade her to do a diorama since we've done several of those before. She wouldn't hear of it and insisted upon the bottle buddy, which by the way is taking a 2-liter soda bottle and turning it into a character from the book. Her book was set in the 1700's with the main character being an 8-yr old girl. I finally gave up and said, fine make the bottle buddy. Well, she made it (with a little help from me and a quite costly trip to HL) and it is so precious. Meet Sarah Noble below. She has long, braided hair that was hot-glued on a strip at a time, a styrofoam head, clay nose & mouth, wiggle eyes, plastic doll arms & legs and is wearing American Girl Doll clothes and shoes. She's quite stylish!! We need to make her a cloak since she wore one throughout the story. Wish me luck with that!

Scrappin Progress
Well, I managed to be somewhat productive while cropping this weekend. More importantly, I had a fabulous time. I completed 20 pages (10 double-page spreads) in Christine's 3rd grade album. I have about 10 more pages and it'll be finished, Yeah. Then I have to move onto 4th grade before she starts 5th! I'll post pictures of the LOs soon. Until then....

Most Recent Layouts
These are the layouts I did for Christine's 3rd grade school album. It's a shame...she's almost finished with 4th grade and I just started 3rd.
I really need to stay organized and focused so I can get some stuff done. I'm so far behind I don't think I'll ever catch up. Let's see what I can do this weekend.
;-)
Layouts
These are the last few layouts I did to complete Edwin's album.
This one is a kit designed by my scrappy friend Melanie. Thanks girl, it was perfect.
The last page is a pocket to hold the cards he received.
I did these a couple of months ago but hadn't taken any pictures to post them. I'm trying to get caught up on everything.

Stuff the Box - A Mission
My husband has been wanting to give back to the community where he grew up in Guatemala. I have been neither for nor against this idea, just very neutral. But the more involved I've become in church and prayer, the more this idea is on my mind. God has a way of motivating us! So it's time to act.....anyone that would like to donate the gently used items their children have outgrown please let me know. We will be filling boxes and shipping them to Guatemala to be distributed when we are there (we go a least twice a year). We are planning to go at the end of July and would love to give lots of children a Christmas in July they will never forget. I promise you that everything will be put to good use. There are so many very poor families in the small villages that would be absolutely thrilled to receive these items. Below is the first box that we have nearly filled with things my kids no longer wear/use. You can include clothes and toys. Unfortunately, the toys will have to be smaller items. Although the boxes are very big, they are also very expensive to ship and they need clothes more than toys.
Please prayerfully consider donating to this cause. We appreciate your assistance in ministering to the world.
Thanks,
Edwin & Donna
The De-cluttering Process
Here are the results from cleaning out my closet. The large black spot on the left is a large black trash bag full of stuff too. Who knew transforming your body was going to cause so many other changes.
Now look at my nicely organized closet. Yeah! Which now contains clothes that actually fit me. Woo Hoo!

Why do they wait until the last minute....
On the way home from school today my step-daughter informs me that she needs to MAKE a toga for the Roman Feast they are having at school TOMORROW!! Of course, she knew about this last week but forgot until today. It was definitely not the news I wanted to hear. I also had to provide a tray of grapes and nuts for this feast, which I just finished putting together at 11:40 pm. This is exactly why I constantly drill into their heads not to wait until the last minute to work on school projects. It drives me crazy!
Ok, enough ranting....can't wait until the crop on the 20th. I'm hoping to squeeze in some organizing time before then. I need to be a little more productive than I was at the last crop I attended, only did 4 pages. But, I did lots of visiting and had a ton of fun. Well worth it!
I feel better after my little griping session. I should be able to sleep a little better now. Actually, I shouldn't have any trouble sleeping....I'm exhausted! Good Night!

Busy, Busy, Busy
Time is flying so fast and I'm so busy I can't even begin to slow down. They are killing me at Christine's school with volunteer projects. This is a very busy time at school. I'm really looking forward to the break for Mardi Gras, they get the whole week off. Of course I have some serious house cleaning projects planned for that week. I'm really needing to get things in order around here and the kids owe me lots of working time. They both have debts to pay off. Christine broke her ipod touch and Adriana infected my computer with viruses. So, they have to work off the cost of repairs! I thought that was just genius and they need to know that things aren't free.
I'm hoping to go to the all-day crop on the 20th. Anyone going? I will try to take and post pics of the last LO I did at the last crop this week. I have lots to catch up on.
Have a fantastic week!

Update
Hello
Sorry it has been a while since I posted. We were in Guatemala for a little over a week during New Years. We had a wonderful, relaxing trip in warm weather. We returned to the arctic and I got sick, yuck! Feeling better now although I'm still congested. Thankfully, I was the only one to get sick. The kids are doing great. They are taking ice skating lessons on Friday evenings and having a blast. Edwin is doing fine too.
I haven't scrapbooked since Scrappin Chicks and I'm itching to get back to it. Unfortunately I have to wait another week. Hope to see some of my scrappin friends next Saturday at Co.
Have a great weekend!
